World of Ruin? Sorry if no one gets the old FF6 reference.
except wacking kefka here wouldnt be helpful
Well how do we know that? Maybe the espe-I mean source of mana is just sealed behind some Darksword-style shield? Yeah, that’s another good reference. But it begged the question of *PLOT HOLE ALERT* why if there was a source on that planet and capping it made every magic user weaker, why not many sources of it from all over the freaking universe. It’s not like planets and galaxies are rare.
*Hears catgirls die* Oh damn, did it again!
It’s not making her weaker. She is just not able to summon mana (so-to-speak), because that is not how things work where she is. Magick is different here and she does not know hoe to utilize it.
I hope the next few pages explain things (not going to spoil right here).
I also remind you that Bodil is a spirit in a shell. So, also, not your typical magick user.
Note: In the Darksword novels, there’s this mana source that comes from underground on some planet. There’s this metal that effectively is antimagic that is A) a sword and B) used to cap the source. But you really would need to read the novels to really understand the reference.
In her case, it’s like a fish trying to get oxygen from air, then. There’s tons of oxygen, but it’s not in a form that easily used. Except that it’s mana. And yeah, Kefka was a twit until late in the game. He was the biggest wuss for most of the game, then he goes and becomes all “I’m a god, BwahahaDUHDUHDUH” right before you go level up to give him a beating.
While I still don;t get a lot of the references, Yeah, it’s probably closer to the “fish trying to get oxygen from air” metaphor.
Though in PSI, I would not call magickal energy as “mana”, per say… I’d have to re-read the archive to see if I’ve said it already, or how I may have said it… but I will say, in PSI anyway, that it is possible to link physics and magick together… or “explain magic” to an extent.
I have plan to discuss more about magick within the comic, but not for a while, me thinks.
Heck, I can talk a ton about the “World Rules” and history I have for PSI, but I think it boils down to only the geekiest would like to figure out. For the most part, it’s important that is works. And Until I actually specify things within the comic, nothing I say is solid as “canon” yet. (it also helps me to iron out details to prevent plot holes, etc).
Retconning=Even then it’s not set in stone
But reboots=teh evil and make it even more complex
Actually, a reboot of PSI would be meant to streamline and simplify things.
Bwahahaha that’s what they all say… Then the story seemingly forces the issue.
Although a reboot where we see what would have happened if they never had the crossover… It would be weird to see them in their apartment living in a comic with situation comedy. And maybe not as cool as fighting evil overlords! Well, at least at first.
Oh, PSI reboot would have a better introduction. Streamline the story to allow Nemi in earlier (I think). The beginning is so messy, I really wanna redo it. As far as the crossovers, they would still exist for the most part…. Probably would remove the Webcomic self awareness and Webcomic war aspect, change it to “worlds” and such.
I should note the only reason for a reboot like that would be for a PRINT version. It would not be for the website.
That, or just wait until after the next arc to do something for print.
Anyway, if I had the time, I would love to do a lot of things. Sadly a PSI reboot (from the beginning) is not plausible at the moment.
