What’s happening in PSI now and the coming months…

EDIT: It’s possible I may be going to a Tuesday/Friday update for a while in the coming weeks, as one update needs to be a page (per week) for a while. We’ll see how quickly I can work.

Ok, so, since October 2009, I’ve been updating 98% on a M-W-F schedule! Doing good! Normally I’ve done PAGE updates… or at least TALL updates. Since last summer, I switched to a Page and Strip format (things that would fit for print). I must say, doing the STRIPS has helped keep my updates going. The alternative was a Page a week… I opted for the three strips a week. However, some Double Strips or Pages can still happen. Soon, actually. Also, there WILL be more crossovers. Why? Because I love them, and they also are helping with the plot. I’ve been scripting ahead, and things are looking good!

OK, so this is what is happening: PSI is going through a CHANGE. … Well, it’s BEEN changing. I’m trying very hard to tighten the story, and not fly too out of hand with crossovers. We are in, what I call, “Act 3″ of PSI (Act 1 would be pre-Crossover Wars, Act 2 would be the Crossover Wars to the Q&A arc). There’s been a LOT of plot seeds planted, and I am in the process of cultivating all of the loose ends before I can conduct “Act 4″. Act 4 will basically get the main cast of PSI in a more homebound situation for a while… an attempt to “refresh” PSI as a webcomic. I originally thought about doing a reboot, but I think my ideas can work if I can eliminate (or complete, rather) the existing plots.

Right now there are a few plot holes I need to answer and finish. These include information about Ford, The Reaper, Bodil, The Goddess, Nemi, and The Armor of the Day Raven that Nemi has been looking for. Yes, all non-Fes and Ernst characters. Why do I not focus on Fes and Ernst as much any more? Because PSI has expanded beyond Fes and Ernst. The jokes I have, I can’t really use as much before I finish all the loose ends, and close things off to get back to a sort of “normality”. I know PSI started as a sorta “gag-a-day” comic… but I just can’t right those. Stories work best if I want to update regularly.

I have several stories and jokes I want to tell. A flashback or two, a video game arc, where Fes and Ernst work, what’s going to happen to other characters after the present Act is closed, etc. I would appreciate any questions, concerns, or desires that any of the few readers I have may want to know. I appreciate everyone that is still reading this comic (especially after all the hiatuses and the computer and data loss I went through last summer), but I would really like to make this comic better… or less complex in any case.

I *do* have a wallpaper war I want to try again, but this time I’ll have each sketched first, so when it ends, it will not be a long wait. Sketching is the hardest part of drawing for me. Inking is easy after that. Coloring, while taking some time, is also easy and enjoyable, compared to the sketchings I draw.

I should redirect you to a Q&A thread for any questions about the comic, plots, or characters in PSI, here. Some questions may get answered via comic.

PSI Updating Plan

Well, since October 23, 2009, P.S.I. has been updating three times a week on a Monday-Wednesday-Friday schedule. Many of those were single panels because they were all originally drawn out to be pages (3 rows of strips). They seemed to work ok. The idea was that I opted for more updates a week, instead of just doing one page a week.

Now I’m getting to the point where I’m drawing new sketches and scripting a bit differently. This means that sometimes a single strip won’t make enough sense on it’s own. The plan is still to have at least three strips WORTH of content a week… it’s just sometimes I may have to skip an update. I have plans to make Double-Strips and Pages, in addition to the Strips I’ve already been doing. When I feel I need to do  these bigger comics, I’ll be updating only TWICE a week. It essentially gives me more time to work on the comic before it’s due.

So, basically:

If I update Monday, I’ll also update Wednesday and Friday.

If NO comic on Monday, then I’ll be updating Tuesday and Friday.

I feel good about the comic and my work so far. I hope to keep these updates coming so I can continue to work on my artistic skills! I will say that in addition to the PSI “Rewrite” (to make it stand-alone and manageable for print), there are plans to continue moving ahead with cameos and crossovers, as the webcomic has always been known for. Again, all cameos and crossovers will be more constructed to fit more inline with PSI’s story, so things don’t seem off-track. For the record, 90% of the happenings in the mall was designed to work with the story and plots I needed to use in P.S.I.
